About A Portrait of Home
The idea of home is something that all people hold dear, regardless of what their particular idea of home is. Thoughts of one’s home are often accompanied by intimate associations of sanctuary, comfort, tradition, and love, and bespeak a deep emotional bond that has been established with it.
Over the past two decades I have forged a relationship with a place that I consider a home, a piece of land in the southern part of the Western Cross Timbers region of Central Texas in San Saba County. I have lived in it, worked on it, witnessed its seasonal transformations, and watched with anticipation as the cycle of life plays out before me over and over again. The land has become part of who I am.
A Portrait of Home is a visual journal about my relationship with this place I call home. It is about a deep connection with and love for the land and the desire to be the best steward possible during my time on this earth.
